Still curious. Still asking questions.
For as long as I can remember, I've always asked questions. Like — a lot of questions. I've always wanted to know more, dig a little deeper and figure out what makes people, ideas and stories tick. Little did I know all those annoying questions would eventually lead me exactly where I was supposed to be.
I actually started out thinking I'd become a reporter. I fell in love with journalism in college — back when "checking your email" was not yet a normal part of life — and I loved the idea of chasing stories, asking nosy questions for a living and finding out what was really going on.
My career started out at ABC Corporate Communications in New York City — think The Devil Wears Prada, but with network television. Yup — that was me. I got an insider's view of what made different executives and departments at ABC run and learned how communications offices worked behind the scenes. I was there for the launch of The View, worked around some of the then-biggest names in broadcast news and was so proud that I had actually achieved my NYC dreams.
Eventually, I carved a path into public relations and communications, and it turned out to be a perfect fit. For nearly three decades now, I've worked across higher education, nonprofits, healthcare, business, technology and agency PR spaces, helping organizations earn coverage in outlets including Fortune, BusinessWeek, The New York Times, Forbes, Financial Times, The Boston Globe, Becker's Healthcare and PetVet Magazine, among many others.
What I still love most is finding the story that isn't obvious at first — asking the question nobody thought to ask, getting to the heart of what really matters and figuring out who needs to hear it.
And the people matter just as much as the work — maybe even more! I continue to work with smart, thoughtful, good people who believe in what they're doing and want a true partner in getting the word out.
Life is too short for bad chemistry and boring stories.
When I'm not chasing a story or getting to the heart of the matter, you can usually find me with my husband cheering at one of our son's high school football or baseball games, or visiting our older sons at college.
After all these years, I still get a kick out of watching a great story take flight. I'm still curious, and yes, I'm still asking questions.
